“The loss is immeasurable,
— unknown
but so is the love left behind.”
Mrs. Shiao was a kind, caring, passionate, and persistent person I befriended during the “2020 Presidential Election Debate in Mandarin.”
She was a central figure in Dallas's local Chinese community and actively engaged in social and political dialogues that are so important for energizing our lives. She showed leadership, integrity, humility, and resourcefulness when it came to day-to-day management of the community affairs and organizations. She tried to be fair, neutral, and unifying to community members when community members were split on some dividing issues.
Everything she did was so much more significant considering that she did it as she fought and endured physical pains.
The time has come too soon for her. I, together with her friends, families, colleagues, classmates, fellow community organizers, and acquaintances, will hold her image and voice long in memory. May she rest in peace and may her spirit live on.
